Candace + Jared

We've traveled for shoots before but this was a strange day. We left at O'dark thirty and boarded a plane for San Francisco, we arrived, ate at our favorite place in SF, Truly Mediterranean, met up with Candace & Jared, shot for a couple of hours and headed back to the airport just in time to arrive back at home in the dark. We got there and it almost felt like 5:30 in the morning again... bazar. 

Candace and Jared are silly and in love and you all know how much we love that! We walked around the city and found some sweet little places to shoot. Candace cannot stop smiling and laughing and Jared looks at her like she's the only girl that exists, which I adore. We are so excited for their bid day in just a few short weeks!!

Donna & Jorge

We love that our clients can laugh, be silly and real in front of our cameras. It's always such an honor to be able to capture a small element of their relationship while we're together. When I look back at my engagement album I remember all the dating and fun and the lack of responsibility. I look at those images and I think, "I want to be there again," I want to regain that spirit of just being in love (without a mortgage). It's always my hope that our clients will look back on their photos the same way. I hope Donna and Jorge look back on this day with sweet memories of laughing and being in love. (I know, I'm WAY cheesy).

Donna and Jorge, thanks for laughing and being nerdy and naming plants for us :) We cannot wait for your wedding!

Messner Family

We had SO much fun with the Messner family! Now that we have Charlotte it's such a learning experience for us to be around families with older kids. I look at these wise parents  and wonder "how did their kids turn out so well?" Then I spend our session trying to watch the parents interact with the kids. (I'm a spy like that) The Messner family loves each other. They came down to the beach early and had dinner together and after our shoot they headed out for ice cream. (Get ice cream with my kids, check, I can totally do that!) It's an exciting time for the Messner family, this is their daughter's senior year of high school and then she will be off to college! Woohoo!

Thank you so much for coming down to Dana Point to spend some time with us. It was a privilege to photograph your family! :)

A Big'ol Family Shoot

Last year we met Shannon and her husband Terrell for a family shoot just days after Charlotte was born. Leila was turning 1 and they wanted to capture some photos to mark the occasion and celebrate their family. This year Shannon and her 3 siblings decided to take some photos with all their little families. Working with a large group can be difficult but everyone was so patient and we had a lot of fun! 

I know, I know, it's cliche and probably just plain silly, but I've been thinking about it a lot lately... I looked through these images and I couldn't help but think all of this because their parents fell in love. Four adult children + their loves and now six grandkids. Isn't it a cool thought. I think about it when I look at Charlotte. All because my parents and Matt's parents fell in love, without that, NO Charlotte! What a wild thought. Anyhoo, enjoy the photos :)

Our little girl turns One

Today at 1:18pm Charlotte June is officially one entire year old. I can't believe how fast time has gone and how much Charlotte has grown. She walks now and can ingest a whole cupcake. Happy Birthday Charlotte!!
